Tutoring

I tried so much! I read to my son every evening since he was 1 month old. We went to story time at the library weekly, but when it was time for him to read to himself, he struggled. I had numerous meetings with teachers and his grades were below average or failing.

By the time he turned 10, I begged his pediatrician to order neuropsychological testing because I worried he had a learning disability of reading like some family members. And he did. The neuropsychologist recommended he receive specialized reading support from an educator trained in multisensory methodology such as Orton Gillingham.

Which led us to Erin. She is well trained as an educator and a warm and gentle human being. My son was not happy about reading lessons- anything related to school had begun to bring him anxiety and frustration. With Erin, he was put at ease. She highlighted his strengths to build confidence and softly coaxed him into learning. She made the lessons fun, too. He came away each session in a brighter mood. His performance in school skyrocketed and he felt better about his capabilities.
