My name is Erin Webb and I am a certified Orton-Gillingham practitioner based in Chicago, Illinois.
In 2011 I graduated magna cum laude from DePaul University with a degree in English.
Over the last nine years I have homeschooled my two children. Through my experience as a home educator, I first found the Orton-Gillingham method. I saw firsthand how much Orton-Gillingham helped my kids not only in their reading skills, but also in their confidence.
As a homeschooling family we have so much fun learning together, but I knew I would miss teaching kids to read and spell. I love to teach reading and spelling. So in 2019, I began my certification training through the IMSLEC accredited Children’s Dyslexia Center MSLE and became a certified practitioner in the spring 2020.
With remote and hybrid learning, parents need support more than ever when their children struggle with reading. It is a personal and professional passion of mine to help families navigate the reading needs and goals of their kids.
As a tutor my favorite part of every day is logging onto Zoom, although I miss tutoring kids in person, and seeing children that struggle with reading and dyslexia grow their confidence and skills as a lifelong reader. As a parent I enjoy offering other parents the supplemental support they need when their child is having difficulty reading.
